K9 Web Protection

It is true that the web is a great source of information. It is also true that it is home to lots of things that are unsuited for a young child, such as adult sites or gambling sites. K9 Web Protection is a handy tool that you can use to ensure your child does not access such sites. With it you can block access to certain types of sites, to a specific list of sites, you can set up web usage time limits, and more.

K9 Web Protection is available for Windows and Mac. To install the application on a Windows PC you must download a 2.4MB installer, run it, and click through the instructions presented by a setup wizard. The setup wizard will ask you to provide a license key (you can easily get it from the K9 Web Protection website) and to set up a password that will protect access to K9 Web Protection.

Access to K9 Web Protection Administration is done via your default web browser. From your browser window you can view all monitored internet activity (view all blocked websites and other internet events monitored by the application) and you can play with several settings (choose what web categories to block, set time restrictions, force safe search, and more).

You can perform the following with K9 Web Protection: pick the web categories to block (adult sites, alcohol sites, gambling sites, and more), pick the protection level (moderate, minimal, monitor, custom), set time restrictions (NightGuard or custom), create a list of websites to always block or always allow, set general blocking options, create a list of keywords that will be blocked, enable/disable safe search, force YouTube Safety Mode, get K9 Web Protection to play a barking sound when it blocks a webpage, unblock webpages for a certain amount of time (like 15 minutes for example), and more.

K9 Web Protection is a free application.
